PRESS: Puzzling political priorities

| December 1, 2013 8:00 PM

Our local Press never ceases to amaze. A recent issue included a front page story with a picture of Matt Roetter, discussing a resolution he was scheduled to present to the Kootenai County Central Committee at their next scheduled Tuesday night meeting.

At 11:45 a.m. the next day, Sen. Russ Fulcher arrived at the Coeur d’Alene airport and announced he is running for governor of the state. The news coverage of this event was found on page 8 of Sunday’s paper.

As a reader of the Coeur d’Alene Press, which news story do you find more newsworthy and therefore more appropriate for the front page? Another story of dissension in the local Republican Party, or a story about a Republican state senator who is challenging the incumbent governor for the governorship?

It has been my experience that the Coeur d’Alene Press is no different than most of the newspapers across this nation. Liberal. Highlighting any flaw or squabble within the Republican Party and downplaying or omitting anything positive.
