ART: Testament to high taxes

On my way to work recently I had the surprise of driving past the “Umbrellas Gracilis” sculpture in the center of the traffic circle on 4th and Kathleen. Whose bright idea was it to spend $28,000 on this ridiculous looking thing that looks more like the Jumpin Jellyfish ride at Disney California Adventure than it does “art”?
I am appalled that the city would commission such a thing when that money would be much better served assisting our local food banks and shelters, etc. Does the city of Coeur d’Alene really have that much money laying around, because if they do, we really need to be paying much less in taxes!
