Outdoors education? Spend time at 'Camp'

All right, so you may know what a cardinal looks like, but maybe, just maybe, your child doesn't and learns for the first time.

But do you know that seven states have the cardinal as the state bird?

Welcome to the board game Camp.

It's an outdoors game chock full of fun facts that can be played by all ages and up to eight players.

The game can be purchased at Cabela's in Post Falls for $24.99 or at www.educationoutdoors.net.

The game is designed to "grow" with the player, starting at Level 1 questions, which are primarily identification of animals. As the players increase in their knowledge about the outdoors, they grow into higher level questions. The objective is to get to Camp first.

The goal of the game is to reconnect families, unplug youth from video games and get folks in touch with nature.

Tim Paczesny created Education Outdoors, a company dedicated to designing board games focused on camping, fishing, nature and other outdoor activities.

An avid outdoorsman, Paczesny grew up at his family's log cabin resort in northern Michigan.

As an adult with children of his own, he wanted to create a way to share his knowledge of the outdoors with his children and his city friends. He came up with the idea of creating games that would be able to teach families about the outdoors through trivia questions and fun facts.
