STRAHORN: Road work falls short
County government is just finishing major repair jobs of Miles Avenue and Strahorn, both by the corner of Miles and Strahorn. Regretfully, they are leaving untouched one of the worst stretches of road in all of North Idaho — hat stretch of Strahorn between Miles and Hayden Avenue.
Not only is this road miserable to drive on, but it is the same stretch of road that the city of Hayden Lake unilaterally and without notice designated as one way, while ignoring the acute need for repaving and widening the road. This was much to the inconvenience of most everyone traveling the area.
It is distasteful to see local governments unable to resolve the issue, especially, with all the nearby repaving by Lakes Highway District, an arm of county government. If the city of Hayden cannot agree with the city of Hayden Lake on the sore thumb for all of Hayden, then surely the county can step in and act for the common good.
The recent repaving of Strahorn and Miles required traffic control staff. Talking to them, almost everyone asked the same question: Why not redo and repave the remaining stretch of Strahorn up to Hayden Avenue?
I hope you can have your reporters revisit this matter with an eye to solving the problem. Thank you.
