SOUZA: City needs her now

| August 25, 2013 9:00 PM

Didn’t use to need an entrance to our once beautiful McEuen Park. We could just walk in from any direction, spread a blanket on the nice grass and read or just relax or enjoy family and others sharing the park. Maybe after awhile stroll over and look at Tubbs Hill or the lake or over to get a sack of Hudson burgers to take back to the park for a picnic.

A real treat would be when the teenage baseball teams had a game going. Just walk up, watch the game or a few innings while listening to all the friendly folks around who all seemed to know each other.

Needing an entrance with a glaring sign seems to be ringing even more alarm bells. And what an insult to Idaho and people right here in Coeur d’Alene who have the talent to make signs. Will there soon be a toll booth at the entrance and directions to where each carny has his act set up? “See the amazing Waldo swallow flaming swords,” section II for $5.

There is a lady who used to have a regular article in The Press and it seemed to me that Mary Souza was always a good watch person for the pulse of the city. I don’t know the lady personally but from what I have seen of her platform, I believe Coeur d’Alene could have no one finer than Mary Souza to begin to straighten out the current disaster now in progress. I hope voters will be cautious and be leery of voting for candidates endorsed by Mr. McEvers or any outgoing City Council members.
