EAGLES: Friends of local charities
The horse that is The Eagles’ Charity Barbecue is far from dead so I will give it another kick. Being a member of the Eagles community is a great thing. As an Eagle it is our responsibility to effectively support those in need.
The fact that the Eagles is still denied their barbecue for a mere two hours every Thursday is outrageous and selfish. It is obvious that the culprits are the businesses right next to the Eagles and downwind from them toward the grass lot.
I would like to say something to the Downtown Association. Be wary of the hand that feeds you. I work directly with the tourism of this town. I conduct business with 40-plus travelers a day. I am constantly suggesting where to shop and where to go, questions I am commonly asked. Currently, no business that is affiliated with the Downtown Association is on that list of recommendations. I refuse to support enemies of charity.
Please reinstate the barbecues immediately. The smoke of giving billows only for two hours a week. Close your doors if it hurts your stock or causes customers to complain.
Become the bigger person and support them by letting your shoppers know that the establishment just raised over $14,000 for charity. Be good neighbors and I will reward you with customer referrals. Continue to deny the hand that feeds, and I will continue to refer tourist dollars to Riverstone. After all, they have plenty of parking.
