RENTALS: Beware property managers
My recent experience with property management companies in and around Coeur d’Alene: It is not a first-come first-serve basis. Whether you get a house you apply for depends on how competent the people are who work on your application.
You will be put off in order for the PM to find a “more desirable” tenant. You will pay for and put in more than one “qualifying” application in each company. There is no need for PM companies to make a profit on qualifying anyone for a home. You will pay for a set higher water bill because there “may be an increase in the future.”
The new federal law regarding service dogs will not be honored. “A Service Animal cannot be regarded as a pet.” You will be treated unfairly and unkindly because of your appearance and age.
Are you a property management employee or owner who treats people as I have described? I have experienced this very treatment. I urge people who are looking for a rental home to call the BBB and see who is listed as one of these PM companies.
I will continue to file complaints where needed and I urge anyone experiencing this type of treatment to also call and file a complaint.
