Beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, doctor and friend, Dr. Ronald W. Dorchuck, 46, of Kellogg, passed away June 27, 2013, at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Ill. He was born Aug. 16, 1966, in Corona, Calif. Ron was the son of Ronald and Kay Dorchuck.
Ron received his M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1993 and completed his residency at the University of Wyoming in 1996.
Ron served as an emergency room doctor for many years in Wyoming, the Benewah Community Hospital in St. Maries and the Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, as well as, he had served as Chief of Staff at the Shoshone Medical Center. Ron had also volunteered at the Shoshone Community Health Clinic, prior to starting his practice at Osburn Family Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Dorchuck was a beloved humanitarian family medicine doctor; he was extraordinarily close to his patients. The doctors at the Cancer Treatment Center in Illinois became close to Ron and gave him the nickname of “The Mayberry Doc” — a reference to the Andy Griffith Show — for his extreme compassion and friendliness.
Dr. Dorchuck would break himself to help his community; he served as hospice director and owned and donated the building and volunteered at the women’s shelter in Osburn. Ron was also a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Osburn.
Ron married Margie Shawver on June 27, 2010, in Rose Lake.
Ron loved and enjoyed his family, old bottle digging, excavating for gold in the summer, remodeling houses, leather crafting, painting and serving as the volunteer ski patrol doctor. He also enjoyed the outdoors — biking, four-wheeling and water skiing.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Dorchuck of the family home in Kellogg; two children, R.J. Dorchuck now serving in Afghanistan and Larinda Dorchuck of the family home in Kellogg; his parents, Ron and Kay Dorchuck of Snowflake, Ariz.; and his grandmother, Rhoda Fyrnn Stearns of Littleton, Colo.
