SEA: Experience it vicariously

| August 2, 2013 9:00 PM

Semester at Sea has been a passion of mine since my first Around the World Voyage in 1998.

As I am busy preparing for my third voyage with Semester At Sea, the excitement and anticipation is thrilling. The “making arrangements” is intimidating. Having a good reliable live-in house sitter lessens a huge concern and allows me to enjoy the planning.

One of the most exciting aspects is sharing the experience with elementary and middle school students through the Vicarious Voyage program. Unfortunately, none of the contacts I made here in our community responded. Fortunately, I will be corresponding and sharing the voyage with a middle school classroom in Maine. A brilliant teacher who is now in his third Vicarious Voyage experience and his interests and thoughtful lesson planning that involves the 14 countries we will be visiting brings an additional joy to my experience.

I will be collecting photos, interviews and experiences I will share with David’s classroom and perhaps skyping with the classroom when possible.

Perhaps one day a teacher in North Idaho will take advantage of the FREE program to enrich their classroom experience through a Semester At Sea Vicarious Voyage.
