Dennis E. Reger, 70
Denny passed away April 23, 2013. He was born a whopping 10 pounds to his proud parents, Austin and Dorothea Reger in Seattle and grew up in the Tacoma, Wash., area.
The family spent several years in Enumclaw, Wash., and then moved back to Tacoma. The family moved over from the coast in the summer of 1958 when his father became Golf Pro at Liberty Lake Golf Course and where Denny started to seriously play the game himself. Denny graduated from Central Valley High School in 1960 and spent one-year at Idaho College. In 1963 he joined the Coast Guard for a two-year stint. He returned home and joined his father in Liberty Lake, Wash., becoming Assistant Pro after attending PGA Golf School.
Denny went on with his father to Valley View Golf Course in Liberty Lake, continuing there as owner and pro until the sale of the course in 2002. He loved the game of golf. He also enjoyed history and was always reading. He was looking forward to a 'road trip' to visit places he'd read about in books of the Civil War.
Denny is survived by his sister, Shirley Dean of Hayden; nieces, Lisa Wigen of Rathdrum and Shelly Dean-Shaw of Harpswell, Maine; nephew Norm Reger Jr. of Bozeman, Mont.; and nephew Michael Reger of the Seattle area.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
