Evelyn Stone, 103

Evelyn died peacefully at home in Post Falls on April 18, 2013. She was born June 16, 1909, to Gertude and Elwood Hodson in Newberg, Ore.

She grew up near Springbrook, Ore., and attended elementary school there. She attended high school at the Friends Academy in Newberg until her senior year, then moved with a cousin to Ontario, Ore., to attend Ontario High School. During that year she met her future husband, Charles Pritzl. They were married three years later in New Plymouth and became the parents of two daughters, Beverly and Barbara, and a son, Robert.

Evelyn and Chuck farmed near New Plymouth for 40 years and raised registered Guernsey cattle. They enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, hunting and camping.

Chuck died in 1970. In 1974, Evelyn married Ted Howe and moved to Caldwell where they retired and enjoyed family, cards, reading, gardening, and camping and fishing with friends. Mr. Howe died in 1995. The next year, in September 1996, Evelyn married childhood friend, Francis Stone and moved to Enterprise, Ore. Mr. Stone died in 1999 when Evelyn was 90 years old. She then moved to Post Falls to live with her daughter. She enjoyed reading and visiting with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, two brothers, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, grandson and three husbands. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Barbara; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandson.

Vigil services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. George’s Catholic Church, 2004 N. Lucus St., Post Falls. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth.
