DRIVERS: The meaning of yellow

| April 14, 2013 9:00 PM

I want to address all you drivers who feel you must race through a yellow light so you don’t have to stop, and for what reason, so you don’t have to wait 30 to 45 seconds.

Sadly, I feel it will only be a matter of time before there is an accident in which some innocent driver and/or their family, or an innocent pedestrian, will be seriously injured or killed by one of these drivers racing to get through the yellow/red light. And where are you going in such a hurry? It’s maybe a quarter mile to the next red light.

I would like to see the Coeur d’Alene police begin patrolling these intersections, especially 15th and Best Avenue and Fourth and Appleway. I know they would be writing citations all day long.

Everyone who sees a driver, and we have all heard them, as the light turns yellow/red, the engine racing for more speed, and as they plow through the intersection, we should all be blowing our horns, reminding them we could have just been in a horrendous accident.

For you so impatient drivers, if you don’t remember from your driving test, the yellow/red light means you slow down and get ready to stop! It is not your signal to put the pedal to the floor and fly through an intersection!

Everyone be aware of these idiot drivers. I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before some horrible accident happens.
