APRIL FOOLS': Did not see the humor

| April 7, 2013 9:00 PM

On Monday, April 1, you had a front-page article that was supposed to be funny about a huge picture to replace the view for Coeur d’Alene North residents. The reason I did not think it was funny is because I was born here in the hospital next to the Elks club in 1946, and have lived here most of my life. I believed the article because of all of the stupid things I have witnessed the city spending or wasting money my entire life.

The latest waste of money is the so-called upgrade of McEuen Field. I will never get to use it. This upgrade is for the out-of-town visitors. I do not even go downtown after May 1 until Oct. 1. It is interesting I average about one time a year going downtown. I know the money for upgrading McEuen Field is a grant or something but it is still a waste. Any money the city is wasting on this could be spent on something else. The Coeur d’Alene Press’ idea of an April Fools’ Day joke was not very funny. What has been going on at the city council lately is a big joke, fighting over how to pay for a sewage project which is required by the EPA. If the city does not come up with money, the EPA will build it and charge the city. That would be very funny.
