Peter M. Bennett, 69
Peter “Pete” M. Bennett, 69, resident of Post Falls, passed away March 25, 2013, at his home.
The oldest of three children, Pete was born to Horace M. and Jessie O. (Parker) Bennett in San Fernando, Calif., on Nov. 1, 1943.
He enjoyed fishing and stock car racing. In his late 20s he decided to try stock car racing and loved it. When he stopped racing he continued to be involved with stock cars and building cars.
He came to Coeur d’Alene in 1976 on vacation. He loved Idaho so much that he went back to California, packed up his family, and moved to Idaho.
He went to work in Spokane for American Sign and Indicator. He worked there for 14 years and never missed a day. He eventually moved back to California for 10 years and was a security guard.
When he finally retired he bought a motorhome and spent winters in Arizona and the rest of his time in Idaho. The past year he stayed in Idaho to spend time with family. He was admired by his daughter-in-law Amber as she was a true friend to him until his passing.
He is survived by the love of his Gale Bennett, and his three children; Diane Curtis (Matthew), Paul Bennett (Cherise), and Jim Romero (Amber); nine grandchildren, Brandon, Cameron, Jerry, Dusty, Kierra, Jacob, Derek, Logan and Lacey; three great-grandchildren, Summer, Lilah, Ember; as well as younger brother Harvey Bennett (Vonnie) and younger sister Fleeta Smith (Dale); along with nieces and nephews, Gina, Dale Jr., Tracey, Stacey and Devin.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
At his request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no memorial services. His request was to be scattered in his favorite fishing spot and toast him with his favorite drink, Dr. Pepper.
