Julia Ruth Harris, 87

Julia Ruth Harris, age 87, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away March 30, 2013 at the Lacrosse Health and Rehabilitation Center in Coeur d’Alene.

She was born and grew up in Iron River, Mich., to John and Edith (Johnson) Trattles. During WWII Julia worked in Chicago but returned home after her mother’s death.

In 1948, she married Lester Harris in Michigan. They farmed in North Dakota and after spending a short time in Seattle, moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1951 where they farmed and ran laundromats. Eventually Julia went to work as a cook at the Iron Horse for many years. Besides cooking, she also enjoyed crocheting and working in her yard.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Lester in 1975 and her son David Harris in 2012.

She is survived by her son Marlin (Nancy) Harris of Hauser; sister Sarah Held of Gurney, Ill.; granddaughters Darcy Harris of Coeur d’Alene and Rachel Harris of Hauser.
