PYP: Growing minds is good
I have been reading with interest the news articles and letters about the PYP program at Hayden Meadows school. Based on what I have read, it seems to be a mind expansion program for younger students. One of the school board members has come out against it because a teacher who was part of the program made a negative comment about his daughter’s religion.
First of all, non one should be making comments about specific religions, either pro or con, in public schools. So an inappropriate comment should be dealt with by school administration. On the other hand, I fail to see how one inappropriate comment by one teacher could cause a school board member to condemn the entire program. We could all use a little mind expansion, including a certain school board member.
