CHICAGO: Memo to striking teachers

| September 23, 2012 9:00 PM

First of all, any teachers participating in the Chicago teachers strike should be docked in pay for every hour that they have been away from their jobs of teaching. In addition, the teachers union should be held accountable for any child-care costs that the normal working people have incurred due to the strike. This should be written into any agreement that comes from this debacle.

These striking teachers are putting themselves in the same category as the “occupy Wall Street” germs. Teachers should not be allowed to legally strike to the degree that it detrimentally impacts students and the families of students. These teachers are being manipulated by the unions and one would think and hope that these people teaching our kids had more maturity and integrity than to simply stop working for a week and play dress-up with bright colored T-shirts in the streets.
