OBAMA: Stop the apologies

| September 19, 2012 9:00 PM

The Islamic world is currently going up in flames and the narrative pushed by the White House and news sources is that the rioters and killers are riled up by a You Tube video that insults Mohammed.

Let’s ignore the fact that Christians and their faith are ridiculed with impunity and the world doesn’t catch fire. Let’s overlook the fact that most of these rioters aren’t exactly firing up their iPad and checking out the video, which is in English, a language most of them aren’t fluent in and let’s focus on the fact that going stark raving mad over one person’s opinion is simply not a decent course of action.

Still, the initial response from the President of the United States is to a-p-o-l-o-g-i-z-e for American freedoms. Say what?? Did no one tell our current president that being ticked off is no excuse for killing people? Why do we not consider it appropriate to anticipate just a run of the mill threshold of decent human behavior from the Muslim world? They go wild and we act as if it’s justifiable and we must bow and scrape until they calm down.

When standing up to an unschooled mob of wacked out religious nuts it might come in handy to have some agreed upon standard of civilized conduct. My first thought is to point out that Americans have long had the freedom of speech and the right to continue breathing after it has been exercised. Start there and encourage the Muslim world to catch up. There is something fundamentally wrong with a president who would throw Americans and our rights under the first Islamic bus to trundle along.

I haven’t seen the clip that is supposed to be inflaming our world at present. It might well be badly produced and insulting. It’s kind of difficult to insult a totalitarian and sadistic religion that supports beating women, chopping off appendages and killing your opponents. If you simply tell the truth about Islam it ticks off the little darlings sufficiently that they’ll issue fatwas until the cows come home. Think Salmon Rushdie — his book, The Satanic Verses, was offensive because it was accurate. Remember that line from A Few Good Men? “You can’t handle the truth.”

Obama stated that when he took office tensions with the Islamic world would ease. Turns out he was wrong. Apparently informing terrorists that we are bad and mean to them just convinces them that they should continue killing us. Apologies from our government merely underscore their point that Americans must shut up or die. If their viewpoint is insane what does that make the current policy from the Obama administration?
