Stolen fishing lure bench returned

| September 18, 2012 9:00 PM

IDAHO FALLS (AP) - Police in Idaho Falls have recovered a bench shaped like a fishing lure that was stolen from along the Snake River last week.

Officers say the bench, which was reported missing last Wednesday, was found at 9:30 a.m. Monday following a tip from a resident.

The bench was believed to have been dropped off at the location after 5:30 a.m.

It did not appear to be damaged.

The bench titled "Al-Lure" was designed by BYU-Idaho art instructor Jason Brown and had been in place for about a year. Idaho Falls Arts Council officials say whoever took the bench cut the bolts that anchored it to a cement pad.

There are about 45 art benches in downtown Idaho Falls and along the river.

Police are still investigating the theft.
