Cathy L. Leth, 58

| September 18, 2012 9:00 PM

Cathy was born on April 19, 1954, to S.L. and Patricia Weidner in Priest River. A few short years later the family, including her siblings Dan and Janice, moved to Coeur d’Alene.

Early in Cathy’s childhood she developed a passion and connection with horses that was inspired by her father’s business of raising and training Tennessee Walking horses. Her love for horses would remain a constant throughout her life. Cathy graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1972. Shortly after high school Cathy went to Phoenix, Ariz., to help her ailing Grandfather Weidner. A year later Cathy returned to Coeur d’Alene and started employment with GTE as a secretary and was rapidly promoted to Customer Service Supervisor while at the same time earning an associate’s degree in business.

In 1975 Cathy met and married the love of her life Rob Leth and became a parent to Laura and Brian. In 1985 Cathy received another blessing to her life, Kara Ashlea Leth. Cathy and her family made the decision move back to the family homestead in Buhl to live close to Rob’s parents, Leonard and Mary.

While living in Buhl, Cathy developed many lifelong friendships volunteering as an EMT for the Castleford QRU. Working with the QRU allowed her to express her passion for helping people in their time of need. It also enabled her to focus on her main priorities that included raising their daughter Kara and caring for Leonard and Mary.

Cathy involved herself in every aspect of Kara’s life and became passionate about everything that was important to Kara. She went beyond all measures to ensure that Kara experienced life to it’s fullest. While this kept Cathy very busy it never took away from her ability to care for Leonard and Mary with love, compassion and true devotion. One of the things that was very important to both Cathy and Leonard was the weekly fishing trip to Salmon Dam.

During one of her many extended visits to the monastery to be with Kara, Cathy passed peacefully in her sleep. She is now reunited with her precious daughter Kara and her grandson Ryan.

Cathy leaves behind her husband, Rob of 37 years; children, Laura (Joe) Wilson and Brian (Stefanie) Leth: grandchildren, Nathan Reinhardt, J.B. and Cassie Wilson; sisters, Janice (Weidner) Campbell and Gloria Weidner; brother-in-law Carl (Gwen) Leth; sister-in-law Linda (Lonnie) Skogsberg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, S.L. Weidner and Patricia Miller; brother Daniel Weidner; daughter Kara Leth and grandson Ryan Reinhardt

Services for Cathy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Monastery of Ascension, 541 E. 100 South Road, Jerome. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the Monastery.
