CLEANERS: Yes, they do matter
You can imagine how shocked and distressed I was when I unpacked my daughter’s beautiful wedding gown that was to have been “professionally” cleaned, pressed and sealed in a special box by a popular local cleaners. I opened the box to find the dress skillfully folded and prepared with tissue. When I lifted the gown out of the box it was obvious that the dress had not been cleaned, but put in the box and sealed.
The hem of the gown was water stained (it had rained the day of the wedding). The box was sealed in the early 1990s and I paid quite a large fee to have this dress properly prepared.
Considering I don’t have the receipt and I am sure the “cleaners” would not be interested in this story, I would urge anyone who plans on saving a wedding gown for a grandchild to go and inspect the dress AFTER it is cleaned and then allow the “CLEANERS” to pack the dress after you are satisfied that everything is as it should be. The dress was very expensive and meant a lot to our family. What a loss!
