TAXES: Keep the old goose happy

Thank you for your editorial in Sunday’s paper! It seems that politicians in general, national or local, receive a free lobotomy when they are sworn into office. After being elected they just don’t get it.

Now regarding our school district. I must have missed the article prior to the most recent levy of $32.7 million, which also mentioned another upcoming levy to cover the cost of maintenance and operation this coming March. We hear about that and the possible “emergency levy” the week after the voters just gave you $32.7 million!

I am very glad to see that our superintendent, Ms. Bauman, made the right decision to advise the school board to not take that levy. Apparently Ms. Bauman has reached the chapter in the superintendent’s handbook entitled “Don’t kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.”
