'Auntie' Hazel Alberta Nettleton, 96

| September 5, 2012 9:00 PM

“Auntie” Hazel Alberta Nettleton passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2012. Hazel was born in Park Rapids, Minn., on Dec. 12, 1915, to David and Hannah (Blaufuss) Wright.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene with her brothers and sisters in 1925 after the death of her parents. She married Bud Nettleton in 1940. They made their home in Nettleton Gulch where they raised their son, Larry. Hazel loved her dog, Ginger, and the White Faced Herefords they raised.

She was preceded in death by her mom, dad and siblings; her husband, Bud and her son, Larry. Hazel was the last Wright of her generation.

She was Auntie Hazel to all; she loved each and every one of her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She held a special bond with her niece, Sharon Mille and her husband Frank, and their four daughters: Lori, Toni, Cindy and Stephanie. She was also very close to her niece Betty Kammeyer Glaspie and her sons: Jeff, Scott and Steven.

Hazel was an avid golfer and pinochle player. She also loved to bowl and make her special chocolate chiffon pie that we all loved. Hazel was very giving; her generosity was unsuppressed to her family and friends. Auntie Hazel loved music and sharing fond memories of her childhood with her brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly. Auntie Hazel also had a very close relationship with her two great-nephews, Parker Stanea and Addison Saterfiel, who will miss her greatly.

Aunt Hazel will be laid to rest at a Graveside Memorial at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

The family would like to thank Heather and all the staff at Generations for the love and wonderful care Hazel received during her stay there. The family asks for all donations to be sent in Hazel’s name to Generations Assisted Living & Wellness, 13400 N. Meyer Road, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
