RIGHTS: Seniors deserve them, too

| October 26, 2012 6:59 PM

I live in a 35-unit HUD complex for seniors. We moved into this building because it is a secured, locked building supposed to protect us from outside predators. Now we have one living among us. We recently were informed that a sex offender is one of our tenants and he assaulted one of the women living here in the complex. Our lease specifically says if a criminal act occurs it is cause for an immediate eviction. However our property management has refused to have this man removed from our building. We contacted a news medium from Spokane and they, after interviewing our manager and the suspect, refused to cover our story.

All we want is for our property management to remove this man from our building. As senior citizens we have the right to live in a complex that is safe and at this point we do not feel safe. I speak for all of us tenants here that want him removed from the building. We want this article to advise you Idaho residents that senior citizens do have rights, and with a sexual predator in our facility we feel our rights are being violated by the property management not following our lease as stated to remove a man who has committed a criminal act against one of our residents.
