SENTENCE: Doesn't always fit the crime

| November 23, 2012 8:15 PM

It was reported in The Press that a guy got 48 months in jail for selling a skull with attached horns off a billy goat in Idaho.

Then we heard that Karl Thompson, a Spokane cop who was convicted of excessive force and lying to investigators related to the beating death of Carl Zehm, was sentenced to 51 months.

There is something definitely wrong with the system — Thompson (the cop), and a resident of Idaho, will get about the same time as an illegal hunter of a goat, a resident of Washington.

What have we become?
