GOP: Don't be so 'gentlemanly'
Earl Parker is a closet Democrat. In his Nov. 16 My Turn, he claims to be a “Reagan Republican” and a “realist,” so the GOP has to change in order to win an election. Was he singing that tune in 2010 when the party crushed the Dems?
Parker bemoans our “stand on social issues,” the Caucasian skin color and the fact that in this last election the GOP lost the minority, women and youth vote. We’ve got to change our “stands” in order to draw in those who shot all of us in the foot. It seems to escape Parker that the GOP loss resulted from record levels of Dem lying: we hate minorities, war on women, etc. I hear that 100 voting precincts in Philadelphia, Cincinnati and such cast ZERO Romney votes. Now, that’s impossible; you can’t get a zero total even on a vote on whether the sky is blue. Can you say “racism?”
Changing our “stand on social issues” is French for “toss the aborted babies under the bus.” Plenty of people, even some church pastors, prefer to pay lip service to life rather than taking a strong stand. “Personally oppose,” but DO nothing is the coward’s way out. That which you allow, you support.
Reagan taught us a good lesson on immigration. He caved and legalized millions of lawbreakers, so now we have even more illegals than before. He got suckered BIG time, so now we should do that again?
Parker is right on one point: the GOP should change. We’ve got to stop the gentlemanly disagreeing with the Dems. Call a lie a lie; call a liar a liar; reveal vote-buying with “Obama money,” cell phones and union gifts; yes, go into minority communities and show them that decades of Dem pandering still leaves them on the bread line. But DON’T change principled stands for the sake of a vote. “What’s right is right, even if no one is doing it; what’s wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it.”
Maybe this election will finally drive the nation into communism. They say you get the kind of government you deserve.
