IMPACT FEES: Just make them pay

Wow. Once again our wimpy commissioners are trying to decide if the cost of services needed to handle growth in new building and development should be borne by taxpayers or the people making money.

It seems to me to be a no-brainer. The residents of our county have been picking up the tab for these people for a very long time, subsidizing the builders and development with high taxes. The lack of impact fees over the last 20 years of boom and now bust have been a great burden to the local people who elected you to represent them.

Everyone should pay his or her own cost of doing business. If you cannot make your business work without taxpayer subsidy, find something you’re good at and do it.
