GENDER: Riled over a ruling

| November 14, 2012 8:00 PM

I am shocked at the bias dictating the Kootenai County magistrate judges. A particular new judge professes to go by the law in all of his dealings. He is known to be a “stickler” for following law. Unfortunately, he forgot his own integrity on a recent civil case. He allowed personal bias to dictate his outcome.

According to law, the case was overwhelmingly one-sided against the plaintiff. Even the plaintiff admitted to not following any of his court order for the past two years and denied the defendant seven months of visitation. One child has been neglected two years of education. There is extreme dysfunction occurring with the children and many CPS reports via professionals.

However, regardless of proof, admission and overwhelming evidence…the case was awarded to the plaintiff. The judge’s bias in this case was the defendant was a male and he had a crime on his record from 21 years before, but according to this judge didn’t make any difference.

When does gender no longer affect custody of children? When do the “best interest” of children really matter? The female plaintiff didn’t even get a slap on the wrist. But the male defendant was threatened with future jail time if he was late again on child support; as he was late twice in 2 1/2 years. Time to question who is deciding the fate of your children. Ask a lot of men in Kootenai County — has it happened to them? It will be a resounding YES!
