INTERNET: Keep government offline

| November 10, 2012 8:15 PM

RE: Cody Conn letter of Nov. 7 — REALLY? “Our government should not allow children to be on the Internet unsupervised.” When was the government made responsible for the actions of anyone’s children? Is that same government the one mandating you have an Internet connection?

The problem is not the gaming sites or any other inappropriate sites. You identified the problem in your first sentence “I am having a difficult time…” There are commercial programs (NetNanny, WebWatcher, etc.) available that allow control to what and when children have access to on the Internet, at least on your own computer. Don’t want a speeding ticket — don’t speed. Having an issue with gaming sites — don’t get on the Internet. The government is not the problem or the solution, individuals are.
