LEVY: It's the best fire option

I live in the Northern Lakes Fire District and will be voting “Yes” on the permanent override levy. During the past 10 years, there has been a significant increase in fire and medical calls due to a large increase in population. The district serves the communities of Hayden, Hayden Lake, Rathdrum, Garwood and Twin Lakes.

If this levy is not passed, there is a very real possibility that the district will have to merge with the Kootenai County Fire District. If that happens, our taxes will increase to a rate that will be higher than the rate of this levy.

I urge you to think carefully of the consequences if this levy is not passed. Everyone from infants to the elderly may someday need to call upon these firefighters and paramedics to save their lives and property. What is the value of your family? I’m sure it is much more than that of this tax increase. Let’s support our NLFD and vote “YES!”
