KKK: A window to education
Thank you to the KKK members who were stationed in front of the newly popular Mexican restaurant on Appleway next to Wendy’s. It gave me a chance to discuss racists and hate breeders with my two children, ages 9 and 12, while on our way to Spokane.
I calmly explained to them that while America is the best country to live in, it also unfortunately gives a voice to those who don’t deserve to spew forth hate propaganda. It astounds me that this trash on the side of the road believes that people of any other color but white should not have rights nor be considered equal to those of us that are white. I am the proud aunty of two Marshallese/white nieces and one nephew who is Tahitian/white, proud friend of Chinese Americans, Japanese American, Filipino Americans, El Salvidorians, you name it, we’ve got friends with all types of ethnic backgrounds, and are PROUD Idahoans because of it. When they are insulted, we are insulted.
By the time we got back from Spokane, they were gone. Too bad, because we had planned on giving them our business just to be able to walk by and say we did not agree with one of their flags that stated, “Keep Idaho White” or “Get rid of ‘em.” Let’s clean up the trash that keeps littering our childrens’ minds the best way possible: education and tolerance.
