| May 17, 2012 10:00 PM

Mark John Meyer, 52, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away May 8, 2012. He was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1959, in San Diego, Calif., to Norris Dean and Lilo Meyer.

Mark always had an interest in aviation and, after leaving college, he proudly joined the United States Air Force. He served as an Air Traffic Controller and was stationed throughout the world. In 2003, he retired as a Master Sergeant and moved with his wife Carolyn and son Joshua to Coeur d’Alene.

He had many interests and hobbies including coin collecting, stamps, camping, hiking, travel, and most of all, model airplane building. He was also an avid gardener and grew beautiful trees and flowers. He left every place he lived more beautiful than it was to start.

The family suggests memorials be made in his name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 889, Coeur d’Alene, or to the Salvation Army youth programs, Coeur d’Alene. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Post No. 889 and the Kroc Center for their support of Carolyn and Joshua during this difficult time.

Mark is survived by Carolyn; his mother, Lilo; brother Mike and his wife Anne; daughter Heather; son Joshua; grandsons, Matreyus and Leonardo; nephew Nicholas and great-nephew Hunter. He will also be greatly missed by many others, including the friends he had made around the world while serving our country.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Norris Dean Meyer and his beloved Grandma, Bessie.

Per Mark’s request, a private service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at the State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash.

Life if not forever, love is. Rest in Peace Dearest Mark.
