McEUEN: Two can play rhyme game
A verse appeared upon my table
It was from Mister Kane.
I looked to see if Kane was able
To recall judgment gain.
As we all know and some will state
When someone’s claims are made.
A monument they then create
Where grievances are laid.
A city torn, it daily seems
And always its McEuen.
Do we create a Field of Dreams
Or leave it to its ruin?
Upon this issue some will say
Voters will remember.
To that I note they’ll have their day:
It’s coming next November.
To have a choice before that date
Four thousand folks must sign.
To challenge funding on the plate
That many say is fine.
The irony in all of this,
The Center of the talk.
Should be the money they’d have missed
Provided by Joan Kroc.
Or Education Corridors
Now built within the town.
All owing to the course of four
Who brought us this renown.
To recall them, there’s no excuse
Or, have this troubled time.
For generations, children’s use
I urge: ‘Decline to Sign’.
