McEUEN: Equal or better required
In regard to the ongoing battle over public access to the Coeur d’Alene waterfront including the Third Street boat ramp and the McEuen Park, many of us in the community have many questions of the City Council, most of which have never been answered.
Some members of the council and the McEuen team along with the parks board, have not been up front with the public and their lack of transparency is rather disturbing. Why have they refused to offer to the public a boat launch and parking “Equal or better” as they promised when the McEuen park project began? I hope they realize they will be facing legal action unless they provide “Equal or better” before they do anything at the Third Street launch and parking lot.
The idea of moving the parking lot behind city hall will not fly. The community will file an injunction to stop all construction at the site and tie this thing up in court for years. The McEuen team, and city, MUST provide “Equal or better” before anything is done at the site. The days of over spending and lying to the public are over. The public will have their say come November. You will all wake up and realize you have not been working with the public but rather working to satisfy your own agenda.
Your failure to keep up the park has been “Designed to fail” so you can justify your conceptual plan. This is fraud!
