TYLER: Will be a no-nosense rep

| May 8, 2012 9:15 PM

With all the turmoil in the world of politics, and a news media relentlessly pounding those in office or running for office, it is little wonder that it’s so difficult to find high quality people willing to serve.

Jeff Tyler is such a person and is willing to serve. He is running for Idaho State Representative Seat 3A, succeeding Bob Nonini. He deserves our support.

“What-you-see-is-what-you-get” with Jeff — no hidden agendas, just straightforward, no-nonsense way of saying and doing things. We need trustworthy men and women of good character like that in public office.

Jeff is a conservative and Christian who believes that if elected, it is his sacred duty to openly represent all his constituents, whether they agree with him or not. I talked with him recently.

“The public education system needs a serious overhaul. State Schools Superintendent Tom Luna and Governor Butch Otter have began the process, but there’s still a lot more to do. At the top of the list, is for parents to have a bigger say in how their kids are educated. That’s too important a responsibility to turn over completely to others.”

A resident of Harbor Island, Jeff advocates a strong watchdog approach to taxes and spending.

On the issue of jobs and economy, the veteran contractor and property manager is developing specific plans to promote jobs and business growth in northern Idaho. “He’s talking with business leaders, politicians, civil servants and owners of companies—big and small—for their ideas and suggestions.”

Jeff Tyler is a man worthy of the public trust. It’s worth remembering on May 15.
