PRIMARY: Vote Green, McHugh

| May 8, 2012 9:15 PM

How has the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee been taken over by Constitutionalists and Libertarians as stated in the Sunday Editorial? Do these people really represent the Republicans in Kootenai County today? This group has been able to gain momentum, in part, due to the platform provided to them by the Coeur d’Alene Press. The more controversy that can be created the more “My Turn” columns and Letters to the Editor appear, filling the pages of paper with free print. This group has gained followers from their twisted half truths being printed as news: followers that will go to the polls and make these extremists the decision makers within our community.

Now you call upon the Independents to register as Republicans in order to vote in the primary to save us from a situation you helped to create. This might not be enough to stop this trend; those that normally don’t vote in the primary, please register and do so. Willing Democrats consider this option, regardless of how you might characterize your political philosophy or party designation, you are entitled to have your vote count now.

Many of the local primary seats have four and five “Republicans” running for the same office. Who they are and the ideals they represent are the extreme in many cases.

Anyone concerned for our community needs to vote in this primary. Sign the affiliation affidavit and make sure people such as Dan Green and Barry McHugh can continue to represent our community.
