DAYCARE: Firmly in owner's corner

| May 4, 2012 9:15 PM

In regard to the article “Daycare investigated — again” on May 1; I have known Pat Schenck for 21 years. I worked for her in Montana in 1997. I have two sisters who attended her daycare as children, one of them eventually worked for her recently in Coeur d’Alene. I have a son who has been going to her daycares for six years. I have never suspected or witnessed any abusive actions from Pat. My son tells me he has never been hit, nor has he ever seen Pat hit anyone. I honestly believe Pat cares about ALL children and their well-being, and that is why she has been doing this as her career for so long.

Pat is not a rich woman, (I’m assuming even less rich after her attorney fees from this) so she must not be too money hungry, as one former employee stated.

The article said that no charges have ever been filed against Pat, but the damage this article will do to her business and her heart are probably irreversible. I hope more people like me who have had positive experiences with Pat step forward.

It would be really sad if this was a one-sided story. Maybe you noticed also, how short Brittany Ehrmantrout’s interview was? Possibly because she wasn’t saying anything negative? I am so thankful for Pat providing quality child care AND jobs to multiple generations of my family.
