GREEN: Works for taxpayers
Serving the public is more than a job. It is a sacred trust.
Ninety percent of voting Americans today think that Congress is doing a poor job. Washington has lost the public trust. We can’t let that happen in Kootenai County.
Current Kootenai County Commissioner Dan Green is a leading force in this county becoming one of the best managed in Idaho.
Dan doesn’t need a job. He has spent his working lifetime as a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Now, he has a passion for serving his community, which for him is a calling.
Since his election as county commissioner, Dan has put his business and managerial skills to good use. With his two fellow commissioners, he has saved the taxpayers $1,815,000 through:
• Staff reductions and reorganizations.
• A newly negotiated indigent care agreement with KMC
• Better recycling program, now extended to many rural areas.
• A new waste disposal contract.
• County Assessor Mike McDowell’s reorganizing the Assessor’s Department.
• Reducing Board meetings, to increase time to address more issues.
Dan has a vision for the future:
• Retain dedicated employees by providing competitive pay scales.
• Save money and increase efficiency by consolidating the four current scattered court locations.
• Protect private property rights and preserve natural resources.
• Make ordinances ‘user-friendly.’
• Require public approval for major county issues.
• Run government efficiently, honestly and openly.
• Control costs.
• Eliminate waste.
• Earn the public trust.
Thomas Jefferson said: “When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property.”
Dan Green is public property worth keeping on May 15.
