ULTRASOUND: It's about women's rights

| March 30, 2012 9:00 PM

I’d like to ask people to really think about Senate Bill 1387. Whether you are pro or anti abortion, this will set precedent for what will soon come. Government will soon be in all of our business! People this is not JUST about abortion! This is about WOMEN’S RIGHTS! When you crack that door open for one thing, you can bet that it will soon be shoved open for other things to come. Let me get this straight. Women must pay for their own birth control. Women must pay for their own abortions. Women are almost ALWAYS responsible for their children when daddy decides he doesn’t want a baby, or hey wants a new family, leaving behind the unwanted first family. NOW we MUST pay for a sonogram too? What right does government have in telling someone they have to pay for an unnecessary medical procedure, and then charge for it? What happens when men want Viagra, and the doctor says, “Well Mr. Jones, the new law is that I have to see if you really can’t get an erection on your own, so please demonstrate that your equipment doesn’t work before I can prescribe you anything.” Then being charged a fee for it. I know, laughs from some of you but, it is the same absurdity as demanding women have sonograms. Aren’t men contributing to the making of the baby? Right now as I type this, the case regarding “Obama care” is before the Supreme Court, as being unconstitutional. Don’t women deserve the same respect?

When government starts telling people they have no right to bear arms, or smoke in your own house, or how many kids we can/can’t have… people will wake up when it affects them. It’ll be too late by then. Republican or Democrat, I don’t care who you are. Stand up for your rights Americans! It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so scary.

One last comment, this is to Ms. Brandi Swindell, who so “cleverly” arranged her spectacle of sonograms at the Idaho Capitol. Who asked, “How can anyone call this offensive? Who doesn’t love an ultrasound image of a baby?” My question is why didn’t those happy women volunteering for your show, strip down below their waists, put their legs up in stir-ups and have the vaginal ultrasound done? Surely they wouldn’t have been offended to bare all, in front of everyone, to hear the heart beat too?
