USC announces plans for Crescent Mine

| March 28, 2012 9:15 PM

United Silver Corp. announced that work has started on the four-year, $23 million plan for the Crescent Mine.

The plan aims to explore and develop existing silver resource, and seek additional resources. USC owned 80 percent of the mine on about 900 acres.

Crews for the Crescent were transferred over from the Galena Mine, owned by U.S. Silver Corporation, where USC had been providing contract mining services. The Galena contract was recently terminated.

"While we are disappointed that our longstanding relationship at the Galena Mine has ended, we are extremely pleased to be able to transfer our 25-plus miners and nippers over to the Crescent Mine," said USC CEO Graham Clark in the media release. "We have highly trained and productive crews, and we welcome them at the Crescent. Their availability allows us to immediately ramp up our exploration development plan."

In other news, USC has been awarded a one-year contract extension by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality for cleanup services in the Coeur d'Alene River Basin.
