ARTICLES: Good news for readers

| March 28, 2012 10:00 PM

Bill Buley’s article on “Thanks for not smoking” and Sholeh’s article on “Disabilities” are prime examples of reporting excellence. I just want to thank you sincerely for caring about our community in this way.

There are facts and figures here that I have known about for many years, but are unknown to the vast majority of your reading public. Will it cause everyone who reads these articles to see people with disabilities in a more positive light — no. Will the article on smoking cause everyone who smokes to stop smoking — no. But if they bring about real and lasting change in only a few people, they will have been well worth the time, energy and expense of putting them to print.

These are “Good News” articles in that they educate and inform us about real life situations that affect hundreds and thousands right here in our community and across the country and call much needed attention to people and issues that we all sort of know about but haven’t taken the time to really learn about. Thanks again for caring.
