Where there's a will there's a way

Ruthie Johnson is the undisputed Grand Dame of the GOP in these parts and every year heads up the ticket sales for the Lincoln Day Dinner. Octogenarian Ruthie broke an ankle a few weeks back and has been confined to a local rehabilitation facility to mend. Did she let a little set-back keep her from her appointed sales goal? Nope. She sold two tickets to this Saturday's event to a nurse on the graveyard shift a few days ago and word is that Ruthie will make an appearance at Lincoln Day. The smart money is betting on Ruthie.

City Editor Bill Buley is a runner, an Ironman and an all-around nice guy. I was very impressed on Sunday when Bill showed up at the Greyhound Park for the Post Falls PD's K9 program fundraising event, Leashes and Laces. He was registered to run and even had his trusty four-legged companion, Beethoven, by his side. He also had his tape recorder and camera. Bill ran the race and also interviewed participants and shot photographs for the newspaper. I'm pretty sure he didn't even break a sweat while multi-tasking either.

Some people spotted a police chopper with search lights in the area of Prairie Falls Golf Course on Saturday night and have wondered what was going on ... evidently there was an armed robbery suspect on the loose. Spokane County had their helicopter in the air and they responded to assist in looking for the suspect. One of PFPD's K9 units also was involved in the search. While they came up empty handed, a suspect has been identified and the bad guy will no doubt be apprehended.

Winter might officially be over according the calendar ... the first morning of Spring snow storm not withstanding ... but the skiing is still great in the mountains. Just show your ID at the ticket window and hit the slopes! Call (208) 744-1301
