Don Edward Andrews, 80
Sept. 10, 1931 - March 16, 2012
Don was born and raised in Alva, Okla. He left to join the Air Force at the age of 17 and quickly rose to the rank of sergeant. After his enlistment, he went to work for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. While working full time and raising a family, Don attended and graduated from Chaffee College in Upland, Calif. He worked for Lockheed for 38 years, rising to the upper levels of management. His title upon his retirement was Manager of International Logistics.
Although based in Ontario, Calif., his job took him overseas for several years. He lived in England and Saudi Arabia during the decade of the 1970s, and traveled throughout European locations during that time. After retiring, he traveled the country looking for the perfect spot to spend his retirement years. He fell in love with the Coeur d’Alene area, which satisfied his desire for a beautiful setting and enabled him to pursue his lifelong love of flying, sailing and skiing. He also had a passion for studying the history of the world. He gave back to the community by participating in the Big Brothers program for 10 years. Don Andrews was a good man and always was.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers, son Jonathon and his first wife, Nadine.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary; son Gary; daughter Alison; stepdaughter Cin Lin; and stepsons, Ted and Anthony. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to the Big Brothers program.
Private family services will be held. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in care of the arrangements. Please sign Don’s guest registry and view his online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
