MACK: 76 trombones for speaker support

| March 18, 2012 9:00 PM

Last month the Post Falls High School presented a wonderful musical: Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man.” It’s about a town in Iowa locked in petty disputes and jealousies until the Music Man comes to town stirs up controversy, redirects energy and produces the “boys band” that becomes the pride of the reunited townspeople.

We have now had three front page articles and an editorial about the speaker at the Republican Lincoln Day Dinner! We surely have Trouble! My apologies to Mr. Wilson for the following:

Oh we got trouble, right here in Lake City,

Oh we got trouble with a capital T,

And that’s close to M and that stands for Mack,

We’ve surely got trouble, right here in Lake City,

Remember McCain, the status quo and the Patriot Act!

Now I know you are the right kind of Republicans, I’m gonna be perfectly frank, When your son leaves the house, does he put a “Ron Paul for President” button on his coat?

Are certain words creeping into his vocabulary like: “Nullification,” “2nd Amendment,” and “End the Fed!”?

Is he listening to some out-of-town Jasper, hearing him talk about “limits of government” and Constitutional Sheriffs? Make your blood boil? I should say!

If so, then we got trouble and we better fire Mack and not learn how a small county can successfully challenge bad law emanating from DC or hear any political opinions that might differ form the party elite.
