SNOWMAN: Let him come home
Missing: One four foot high, white, post snowman; carrot nose, black pipe-wearing a blue, faded polar fleece scarf and blue stocking cap.
I am writing this letter in the hope the person (s) who had the guts to take my snowman from the front of my house the first of March might reconsider their actions and return it. I can’t imagine why you felt compelled to take something that wasn’t yours and was obviously weathered and handmade with little monetary value. However, to me and my family the snowman was irreplaceable and its value priceless.
The snowman represented many of the good people and things here in Dalton Gardens. It was hand-crafted in the old Dalton Gym, where a very special person helped several moms and teachers assemble the wooden body, nose and pipe. When it was completed it was ours to take home and dress and attach the arms from branches.
For 18 years the snowman stood on my porch or near the front of the house to wave to the school children, UPS man, or neighbors.
I want to believe the person who took it was not from Dalton, for I value the integrity of this community. Dalton has always been a wonderful and safe place to live. I know you could have easily taken the small, wood carved bear, or the pink flamingo a couple doors down, but it puzzles me why you chose my snowman.
Perhaps by now someone has information regarding the snowman; or if it should be returned, I would be extremely appreciative.
