CAUCUS: Cheers and boos, both
I attended the Idaho Caucus at Lakeland High School and I was impressed with the civility and underlying unity of those willing to give up an entire evening and in some cases, up until midnight to vote their conscience. I can think of no better tribute to our armed forces’ sacrifices than to be an engaged and informed electorate. It is a small, but important tribute to pay.
I must say that timing is everything though. I see The Press editorial, the DAY AFTER THE CAUCUSES reporting, that according to a concise report in the Wall Street Journal (Published Feb. 24) that Ron Paul would have reduced the federal deficit $2,200,000,000 whereas the other “CONSERVATIVE” candidates would have INCREASED the federal deficit from + $2,600,000,000 all the way up to + $7,000,000,000 during a two-term presidency. Is it any wonder I get most of my information by observing and an unbiased but unregulated Internet to ferret out the truth? I have seen where an omission was much more important than what was reported.
When we pass on our inability to live within our means on to the next generation, shame on us all. A once great nation that allows itself to grow insolvent via fiscal irresponsibility is the result of a nation that has forgotten the meaning of Liberty, self-respect and self-reliance. Thanks again to those who came out to be heard in hopes of changing this trend.
