JAIL: Here's a recycling proposal

| March 7, 2012 9:00 PM

It seems Waste Management convinced us all to sort the recyclables and put them in a small blue container. It was such a great success that they decided to furnish us with a big blue receptacle. Now it seems we are furnishing the labor to stay green which is a good idea. But who reaps the profits from the recycling? Now I am hearing rumors about charging us for the big blue bin.

My question is if we have a jail that will house 100 inmates why not run one shift recycling to help pay their fines, while one shift sleeps in the cell and one shift is in common areas? This way they could run three shifts sleeping, three shifts recycling and three shifts in the common area. Now the 100-cell jail will house 300 inmates.

The other solution would be that all the monies earned from us furnishing the labor to sort the recyclables goes to building the new jail. There must be money to be made somehow from recycling?
