BUS: Heed the rules, drivers

| March 7, 2012 9:00 PM

To the four drivers heading east on Mullan Friday around 3 p.m. near Super 1 Foods; either you don’t know how to read the word STOP on the arm extended from the school bus I was behind, or you don’t know what the bright red flashing lights up top mean for you to do, or just maybe… God forbid… you just don’t care that there are kids getting off said school bus and are in too much of a hurry to take the time to stop, showing some small amount of consideration for your fellow human beings.

Chapter 2, page 2, diagram No. 2 of the IDT drivers license handbook clearly shows that BOTH lanes of travel on a two-lane road with a center lane for turning are required to completely stop, and STAY STOPPED, until the bright red flashing lights of the school bus are turned off. Too many times I’ve seen kids dart back across the street before the bright red flashing lights of the school bus are turned off, but I guess it’s no big deal if you hit one of them. After all, they’re not YOUR kids.
