BOOZE: Government isn't the answer

The editorial of Feb. 26 is quite illuminating. Wow! 34.7 percent NET PROFIT for 2011 on liquor sales. No wonder Costco and Northwest Groceries want a piece of that. Though you list $31.1 million distribution of the $50 million profit to various government support, where did the balance of $18.9 million go? Pretty big un-explanation.
I am not in favor of the government in a monopolistic enterprise. Perhaps that is what the Reagan Republicans object to. Exorbitant prices on alcohol do not deter alcoholism; perhaps The Press can demonstrate otherwise.
Finally, observing what the state of Washington experiences will not have any effect on the judgment of the people in the state of Idaho, never has.
