| June 29, 2012 9:00 PM

WALLACE - The stage of the Sixth Street Melodrama continues to bring live theater to the Silver Valley, and this summer is no exception as the theater opens their 29th summer season.

Opening on Thursday, July 5 is "The Farmer's Daughter, or...Sally and the Villain," a melodrama written by Ellis Wilhite, and directed by Carol Roberts.

The action centers around Sally McDougal, the daughter of a farmer, who has aspirations to move to New York City and be a star on Broadway. She meets villain Benjamin Slick, who promises to marry her and take her to Broadway. Unfortunately, Slick has other villainous plans for Sally and her family. But, as always, the hero comes to save the day.

After a short intermission, the cast returns to the stage to perform Kelly's Alley Revue, a musical revue with lots of singing, comedy and fun entertainment. The review is written and produced by Carol Roberts, and will have a Broadway musical theme.

Melodrama is a fun, interactive form of theater where audience members are encouraged to boo the villain and cheer the hero. For more than 25 years, the Sixth Street Melodrama has been providing live melodrama in the city of Wallace throughout the summer months.

In August, the theater will have another show opening on the Sixth Street stage. Opening Aug. 1 is "Dangerous Deeds for Deacon Dudley, or...Raising Cain Whenever We're Able." This play is written and directed by Paul Roberts.

This action takes place in Tribulation, where Deacon Dudley will try and save the church and the town. This show is also followed by Kelly's Alley Revue.

Shows run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. "The Farmer's Daughter" runs July 5-29. "Dangerous Days for Deacon Dudley," runs Aug. 1-26.

All ticket prices for the summer shows are $10. The family rate is $30 for a family of two adults and two children, with each additional child $5.

The theater is in Wallace at 212 Sixth St.
